How does switching our yogurt containers from PS to rPET affect our EPR fees across Ontario, BC, and Quebec?
Net fee impact varies significantly by province. In Ontario, the Blue Box transition to full producer responsibility means rPET triggers lower ecomodulated fees due to higher curbside recyclability — estimated $0.012/unit reduction. BC's Recycle BC program applies a similar recyclability credit, yielding ~$0.009/unit savings. Quebec's EEQ system, however, bases fees on weight with limited ecomodulation — the heavier rPET container increases per-unit fees by ~$0.003. Net across all three provinces: approximately $0.018/unit savings at your current volumes of 4.2M units/year.
